About

Dr. Dave & Dr. Joe created this website after repeatedly encountering patients that were terrified about anesthesia. Though this is a smaller subset of patients, the amount of fear and anxiety experienced by these folks is tremendous. And most patients experience some level of anxiety about undergoing anesthesia. We thought it would be helpful to create a resource that patients can access to complement their interaction with their anesthesiologist on the day of surgery.

This way, patients can be better informed about what they will experience before, during, and after surgery (or other procedure). They can then have better discussions about their care with their surgeons and anesthesiologists.

Here’s a little more background on us:

Dr David Draghinas

I am a board-certified anesthesiologist currently in private practice, working at several hospitals and surgery centers in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. I love my job and consider it a special privilege to be able to take care of patients during what can be a stressful and vulnerable time.

I graduated with a degree in Biomedical Engineering before going off to medical school at USC’s Keck School of Medicine. I stayed at USC for my residency training, getting awesome clinical training at hospitals like: LAC/USC Medical Center, USC University Hospital, Children’s Hospital LA, and Cedars Sinai Medical Center.

While in medical school, I received a scholarship from the United States Navy. When I finished residency, I got placed at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. There, I got to teach anesthesia residents and student nurse anesthetists, besides taking care of patients and doing my own cases. I even had the honor of taking care of our Marines and coalition forces while on deployment in Iraq.

Having spent time in academia, practicing military medicine, and now in private practice, I bring a unique perspective to the practice of anesthesia. I look forward to sharing my experiences and perspectives with you.

Dr Joe Jackson

I am a board certified anesthesiologist in private practice in the Dallas Fort Worth area.  Everyday I have the privilege of taking care of a wide variety of patients undergoing a diverse group of surgeries and procedures.  I take my job very seriously and I feel honored to be a part of a great profession.  Most of all, though, I think my job is a lot of fun.

I am a native Texan, having stayed here for most of my education and training.  I grew up in Waco, Texas and graduated from Baylor University with a BA degree. Then it was on to Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas where I graduated from the MD/MBA program.  After finishing medical school, I spent my intern year in internal medicine at UT Southwestern in Dallas.  I completed my anesthesiology residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

My hope is that you will find our content to be meaningful and worthwhile.  And I hope that we can both learn something.  I encourage you to give us feedback and let us know what you want to hear more about.
